Christian Aid Walk on the Sheep's Head Way September 2011

This year’s Sheep’s Head Hike for Christian Aid will happen on Saturday 3rd  September, beginning at 11:30 am at the Kilcrohane Community Centre will walk one of the most beautiful and scenic walks on the Sheep’s Head.

Starts: 11.30am, Kilcrohane Community Hall, Kilcrohane Village

Getting ready
We advise walkers to bring walking shoes, walking clothes [no jeans], a raincoat, drink and a sandwich. Bring a change of clothes in case it rains and you get wet. The Sheep’s Head Hike is a hill walk and would not really be suitable for young children with no hill walking experience. The walk duration is approximately 5 miles and will take 4.5hours to complete.
 
This year’s route: Christian Aid Sheep Head Hike 2011  starts at “Finn Mac Cool’s Seat. The route will climb up to onto the Seefin Ridge walk towards the “Windy Gap”, down pass Bran Mountain, Rosskerrig Mountain, down the Sli Bhran onto the “old military Road” and back towards to the village of Kilcrohane. At ‘Poet’s Well’s walkers will have the options of either taken awaiting coaches back to the village by road, or walk down towards Farranamagh (“Lough of the monks”) Lough, and back to Kilcrohane Community hall where there will be a reception for all walkers.There will be a rest and reflection at half  point halfway across the ridge way.
This is a stunningly beautiful walk which captures all the beauty of the sheep’s Head and the adjoining countryside, bays and hills, etc.
