Equipment: Walkers must take with them
waterproof foot wear, rain gear, fluids and mobile phone.

Rules: No dogs allowed on the trails,
beware of cliff edges and live stock, and take all your
rubbish with you to finish point ('leave only footprints').


Meeting Location: 4km West past
Kilcrohane village, old stone house at a cross roads known
as The Black Gate. Alice West's is a centre owned by local
Community used for activities.

Registration: Commencing 11am
participants will
Sign in together with inputting mobile
phone number and sign out upon completion. Walk will depart
11:30am.

Route 1; Trail walking enthusiasts.
8.5km,3 hours, hilly terrane, some areas slippery requiring
robust walkers and more appropriately gripped footwear.
Highlighted as hard and strenuous.
The Poets Way/Cahergal loop. The route
goes East slightly to meet a near by cross going North to
top of a ridge. Destined Westward the walk encompasses an
area known as Crimea visiting an old farm house which is
situated within the walk. This building was renovated by
local community a few years ago with tatch roof. Continuing
along near 19th century abandoned Copper mines. By The Cove
before turning inland South to finish point at The Black
Gate.

highlighted in purple.


Route 2: Leisurely walkers. Cahir Loop
5.6km, 2.5 hour duration, more moderate/even walking terrane
than route 1.
Walking same direction as route 1 North
to top of ridge, before branching off East to old quarry
road passing a lake, South encompassing old famine grave
yard and Tra Ruaim strand before continuing North to finish
point at The Black Gate.

highlighted in Green.

Route 3: Leisurely walkers wanting
further distance, 3hrs. Branching from famine grave yard
Cahir (from route 2) and continue East to Dooneen Moreland
before joining road near Dooneen pier and making journey
back to finish point at The Black Gate.
Opt out option by means of lifts by
organisers will be available along the road.
On Sheeps Head Way map route is
highlighted in Green before proceeding to dotted yellow East
ward where Walk branches from route 2. Should participants
walk all Way by road, turning Left at Dooneen cross
continuing West to finish point at The Black Gate.
